Seymour Weitzman, Stuarts father, was a shoe designer. Stuart originally was planning to go to the Wall Street. He was not initially interested on continuing his fathers footsteps. He used to sketch occasionally as a hobby. At the age of 20 he made a sample shoe from the factory of one of his sketches. His father sold it as a part of his line and the sales picked very well. His father made sure that the shoe he made initially was bronzed. This was the beginning.
George W Hewlett high School was where Stuart graduated in 1958. He studied in the Wharton School of Business and completed in 1963. Stuart sold his business to a Spanish company in 1972. But he was still designing shoes for them.
In 1994 he again purchased the business back from the company. He uses unique materials like cork, Lucite, wall paper, vinyl and gold. He gives great attention to detail which made sure that his company had followers worldwide. In all 45 countries sell his shoes. In the US, shoppers especially rush for this footwear in all retail shops and department stores in addition to stand alone boutiques.
